The hub was officially opened at an inaugural event that was graced by the presence of various stakeholders from both the local and international communities. Seedstars World has set up several hubs across the world including African countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, and Ivory Coast.
Seedspace Cairo being the latest of these hubs will be looking to support the local entrepreneurship scene in Egypt by offering a platform through which Seedstars World will deploy its various acceleration and academic programs.
The hub will also provide a co-working and co-living areas to accommodate budding entrepreneurs who would have otherwise been bogged down by the high cost of setting up and running an office in uptown markets in the city.
It is a strategic step for us at Seedstars,” said Romulo Navarrete the head of operations at Seedspace. “So that we can be closer to the community we have gathered over the last years, to continue supporting them 365 days throughout the year, with different activities, events and, of course, a great place from where businesses can be created, grown and scaled.
We aim to have 15 hubs around the world by the end of 2018. This expansion is pivotal so that we can bring more impact to local ecosystems while interconnecting the different locations, creating access to an international community of entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and corporates interested in innovation.”
The inaugural opening of the Seedspace Cairo also played host to the Cairo chapter of Seedstars World, the global seed-stage competition for startups from emerging markets. The event was geared at identifying and placing the spotlight on the best five startups whose products, services, or ideas align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
