The event, which is in its eighth edition, will be headlined by South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka. She will be joined by fellow South African artists Vusi Nova and Garth Taylor, as well as Portuguese artist Cicero Lee.
Confirmed local acts include Allistaire and the Swingers Jazz Band, Rose Black, FuJazz Band, William Petersen, Sean K, Dan Shout Quartet and The Ugly Creatures.
“The Jazz music genre in Namibia possesses some of our most talented entertainers,” Windhoek Jazz Festival patron and member of parliament Katrina Hanse-Himarwa said. “Therefore, it continues to be a growing brand. Testimony to this is the interest shown by the public in the jazz festival over the years. The hosting of the Windhoek Jazz Festival continues to contribute to the establishment of Windhoek’s status as a diverse, vibrant and artist-friendly city.”
Councillor Teckla Uwanga said: “I believe that there are few places in the world where you are welcomed in so many diverse ways than in Windhoek. What better place is there to host a jazz festival with the genre often appreciated as an age-old expression of cultural diversity.
“The event promotes Windhoek as a progressive city, a destination for world-class entertainment, of innovation through cultural diversity, and exciting investment opportunities as Namibia’s gateway to endless opportunities.”
